How come the musicians of TmbaTa Orchestra are so young but already have a long experience in playing and performing together? The story behind includes the endless enthusiasm of young and free souls and the support of professionals who believed in them.
At first, TmbaTa was a musical educational workshop led by Arik Grigoryan at Tumo Center in 2013. Intensive and creative workshops built up something more between the young participants, and they made a decision to become an independent band.
Today TmbaTa has created its unique sound and style. Its music is an alternative and modern interpretation of traditional Armenian folk music. The repertoire mainly includes Armenian, traditional folk songs mixed with modern genres, creating a new, original and extraordinary genre. TmbaTa is an Avant-Garde Folk, Folk-Rock band, or in short, World music with its unique way of thinking.
TmbaTa had the chance to meet and have musical discussions with artists like Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Serj Tankian (SOAD), Kanye West, Charles Aznavour, Richard Bona, Boiler Room, etc.
TmbaTa has performed in a range of international festivals and concerts.
